STATEMENT: Democrats Serve PAC on Shomari Figures winning the AL-02 Democratic Primary Runoff

Washington, DC (April 19, 2023) Background: On Tuesday, Democrat Shomari Figures won the Democratic Primary runoff for Alabama’s new 2nd Congressional District seat. Next, he’ll face off against Republican Caroleene Dobson for the General Election on November 5, 2024.

In response to Shomari’s historic win in Tuesday’s primary, Brett Broesder, the founding executive director of Democrats Serve—a hybrid PAC that supports Figures and actively ran an independent expenditure (IE) leading up to the Democratic primary runoff—made the following statement:

“For Shomari Figures, public service isn’t just a job; it’s a way of life. His experience as a public service pro—from the halls of Congress to the White House—makes him uniquely well-positioned to deliver for Alabama in the nation’s capital. Democrats Serve is proud to support Shomari’s historic congressional run, and we look forward to continuing our support in the General Election and beyond.”
