RELEASE: Democrats Serve PAC endorses Dave Calone for County Executive (Suffolk County, NY)

Highlighting his background as a public service pro, the national organization plans to actively support Calone’s county executive bid in Suffolk County, NY.

Milford, Conn. (July 10, 2023) — Today, Democrats Serve, a national hybrid political action committee (PAC) aiming to help public service Democrats run for office and win, announced an endorsement of Dave Calone’s county executive bid in Suffolk County, New York.

Brett Broesder, the PAC’s executive director, stated that Dave Calone’s public service background includes serving as a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice and as a New York State Special Assistant Attorney General. He’s an excellent example of a Democrat running for office with experience as a frontline public service pro who can excel as a candidate and policymaker.

“Dave Calone knows public service,” said Broesder. “He has a proven track record of doing what’s right for his community. And as an Empire State prosecutor, he successfully negotiated the largest healthcare fraud recovery for taxpayers in the state’s history. As county executive, he’ll continue fighting for Suffolk County families. That’s why we couldn’t be prouder to back Dave in his county executive run.”

For the 2023-24 election cycle, the PAC has made endorsements nationwide in competitive elections, including: Incumbent House Democrats Yadira Caraveo (CO-08) and Abigail Spanberger (VA-07); and U.S. House Candidates Gabe Amo (RI-01), Dave Min (CA-47), Aditya Pai (CA-45), and Josh Riley (NY-19). 

Democrats Serve is making a concerted effort to recruit diverse candidates with public safety and justice system experience. 

The organization’s overall national effort consists of recruiting, training, and supporting Democrats with backgrounds serving communities in government, including educators, police officers, firefighters, first responders, social workers, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, public health nurses, and more.
