Sign the petition: Dark money and Big Pharma

I'm going to tell you a story that will outrage you.

It's a story of corporate power, dark money, and anonymous attack ads. And I'm going to ask you to take action by signing a critical petition.

First, the back story.

Andy Kim and Tom Malinowski each represent districts in New Jersey. They're both public service professionals with sterling reputations at the State Department and the National Security Council.

They are both facing very tough re-election fights in 2022. And at Democrats Serve, we're proud to have endorsed them—and we're going to work hard to help them win.

Earlier this fall, mailers started landing in mailboxes across New Jersey. They were loaded with outrageous lies, suggesting that Kim and Malinowski want to cut off "access to lifesaving medicines" and cut Medicare.

As Congressman Kim put it, "I've been attacked before, but I've never seen one as egregious as this one in terms of 'Andy Kim's trying to cut Medicare.' That's just so absurd!"

So, who's lying about Andy and Tom? No one knows. They say "Paid for by A Healthy Future, LLC", but that's just a PO Box somewhere in Ohio.

Worst of all, it's perfectly legal. In 2010, the Supreme Court ruled in the Citizens United case that corporations have the right to spend unlimited sums of money—and to do it anonymously.

That's wrong. And it's time for Congress to fix it. Legislation is already moving through Congress, and at Democrats Serve, we've joined a coalition of campaigns and organizations to marshal grassroots support—including the Kim and Malinowski campaigns.

Will you join Andy Kim, Tom Malinowski, and Democrats Serve in calling on Congress to take action immediately to stop the dark money? Sign our petition here.

SIGN THE PETITION

Let's get this done. No one should be allowed to lob anonymous attacks in our democracy. Say what you want, but put your name and face on it when you do.
