All 13 incumbent House members receiving Democrats Serve PAC backing have public service backgrounds, are part of the DCCC’s Frontline Program, and safeguarding their seats is critical for House Democrats to protect their majority.

Milford, CT (July 19, 2021) – Today, Democrats Serve — a new national political action committee (PAC) supporting Democrats running for office with frontline public service backgrounds — is endorsing 13 incumbent Members of Congress in competitive districts.

Brett Broesder, the PAC’s executive director, noted that all 13 incumbents receiving an endorsement today are former frontline public service workers and represent competitive districts. Safeguarding these seats in the 2022 midterm elections will be critical to helping Democrats maintain a majority in 2022.

“For frontline public service pros like those being endorsed today, strengthening their communities isn’t just a job; it’s a way of life,” said Broesder. “Their experience as frontline workers provides them with first-hand expertise in tackling the toughest challenges our communities face today. That’s why Democrats Serve, with an aim of making sure they have the support and resources that are necessary to win re-election, is proud to officially endorse their candidacies.”

The 13 Democratic incumbent Members of Congress, with frontline public service backgrounds, include:

Broesder also said the group is making a concerted effort to support and recruit diverse candidates with public service experience, which includes public safety and justice system pros.

“Republicans in Washington are turning their backs on law enforcement by refusing to investigate what role politics played in allowing insurrectionists to kill a Capitol Police officer,” said Broesder. “Republicans have made their priorities clear: appeasing right-wing extremists trumps law and order. America deserves better. That’s why re-electing the Democrats we’re endorsing today, who know first-hand what it means to serve their communities in government, is critical to safeguarding our democracy.”

Democrats Serve’s overall national effort consists of recruiting, training, and supporting Democrats with backgrounds serving communities in government — at the federal, state, and local levels — including teachers, police officers, firefighters, first responders, social workers, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, public health nurses, and more.

Since officially launching less than two months ago, the PAC has made endorsements nationwide in competitive elections, including Eric Adams for New York City Mayor (NY), Val Demings for U.S. Senate (FL), Cheri Beasley for U.S. Senate (NC), and Katie Hobbs for Governor (AZ).

All 13 Members of Congress being endorsed by Democrats Serve today are also part of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s (DCCC) 2022 Frontline Program. The program, which includes 32 incumbents total for the 2022 election cycle, aims to provide incumbent Democrats in potentially competitive seats the resources to execute effective re-election campaigns.
