Good trouble: Sign the petition for the John Lewis Voting Rights Act

In the wake of the 2020 election, far too many Republicans have joined Donald Trump in his war on democracy.

They're doing everything they can to make it harder for people to vote — shutting down polling places, curtailing vote-by-mail, shortening polling place hours and early-voting days, even implementing criminal penalties for election workers who make unintentional mistakes in election processes.

This is where the John Lewis Voting Rights Act comes in. And why we're asking you to join us in calling on Congress to pass it now.

Unfortunately, and expectedly, Republicans in Congress aren't too thrilled with the idea. Because they've all-but-said that, if more people vote, they lose.

Well, that's too bad for them, because last time I checked, our democracy was of the people, by the people, and for the people.

John Lewis passed away one year ago. But his fight for voting rights lives on. As he said, "The vote is precious. It is almost sacred. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democracy." And so, we fight to protect it.

The John Lewis Voting Rights Act aims to restore civil rights protections that have been decimated by the Supreme Court and attacked by Republican legislators. It's exactly what's needed right now to protect the right to vote in America.

Please sign the petition and join our Democrats Serve community in urging Congress to get this done as soon as possible.
